Keeping Green always in style....
Welcome to the Newton Resource, a site dedicated to the Newton MessagePad and the Newton community. If you don't know what the Newton is and have stumbled across this site by accident then you missed a golden era of Apple's history.
The Newton was one of the first personal digital assistants (PDA) on the market, and to this day is still one of the best. Newton was the operating system that ran on the Apple MessagePad and later was used to refer to the PDA and the software it ran. The Newton is a very powerful PDA, featuring handwriting recognition and full size PCMCIA compatibility. The Newton was very advanced for its time and can still compete with the modern PDAs in terms of usability and compatibility with desktop machines,
Since the death of the Newton in 1998 a large number of enthusiasts have been keeping the much loved system alive. With this dedication from Newton fans advances in the technology have been very impressive. Newtons now can use WiFi cards to connect to a network, play MP3s and use Compact Flash for storage. All these advances were made long after Apple pulled the plug.
These days I have mostly replaced my trusty Newton with an iPhone, Hopefully this site and others will keep the memory of the newton alive and remind people where the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch all started.
